For as long as I can remember I’ve always loved science. The how and why, the studies, the statistics. It’s all so fascinating to me. I spent a decade of my life pursuing hairstyling. Colour theory and formulation were my favvv. Figuring out what I needed to use and why was so important especially for colour corrections (which was my speciality along with hair extensions).

Taking courses, reading, watching videos, always learning more. I had to retire from that career due to my autoimmune conditions that prevented me from working on my feet all day, I mourned it deeply (and honestly still do).

I have been creating my own skincare for our family since 2017. It started with a body butter. Something simple, but just swapping out products that were full of hormone disruptors and ingredients. I had no idea where they came from, it really made a difference.

I then transitioned into scrubs. I loved turmeric so much for my diet for inflammation and I knew I had to incorporate it into my body care somehow. The turmeric body glow was created. Then followed by the Guatemalan glow coffee scrub when I needed more of a deeper exfoliation I kept playing with ingredients and experimenting as I continued to further develop these products and make them better.

I really don’t remember how I made the decision to open up a business selling products I already knew and loved. Tbh some of that drive came from spite seeing how expensive things were getting, and I just thought “Where do corporations get off charging that amount? I can make that better and less expensive”. In 2023 Ancestral Body & Sol was created. My logo which was created by my friend Shelby is the heart of my business. Ix Chel is a goddess in my Maya culture and I thought she would be absolutely perfect to represent my business. The goddess of love, the moon, fertility, medicine, protector of children, feminine gifts, and a woman of the arts & beauty. She’s even tattooed on my arm with my sleeve representing my Guatemalan side.

This isn’t just a business to me. It’s truly engrained in every part of my life. Herbal work and formulation is just a part of me now. Selling the products I’ve created and sharing them with the world is honestly my greatest pleasure.

I love handcrafting hair and skincare in small batches, duping expensive products and blending ancient traditions with modern science. Hearing when a product worked for someone or better yet, changed their skin or hair for the better is honestly indescribable. It’s just a feeling of pure gratitude for choosing me to spend your heart earned money on and the trust that goes into it.

So thank you to everyone that has supported me along the way whether that is purchasing one of my products, telling a friend, sharing or even just trying out a sample at a market. I appreciate each, and every one of you and I wouldn’t be able to do it without you.
